You found the perfect dress, the most exquisite bakery for your cake, the most sumptuous caterers in town, and beautiful dresses for your bridesmaids. You spotted the most fantastic venue for your spring wedding. But as the days draw near, you find you can’t pay for it all. And with your credit from college, you don’t know where you can turn for a loan

When you’re preparing for the happiest day of your life, the last thing you want is to stress over not being able to pay for the wedding! In most cases, wedding costs end up far beyond budget. After all, it is the biggest day of your life. You want the day to be perfect. Unfortunately, your bank savings isn’t.

If you have your heart set on certain details of your wedding however, and absolutely do not want to cut corners, then you may want to explore other financial options as well. Even if you had trouble getting a loan with your bank due to your credit, several companies, some of them online, specialize in helping customers with less than perfect credit. American Express Canada And MBNA Credit cards are companies that offers direct online Canadian credit card applications .

Which is why you’re less than surprised when your bank denies your loan application. This is when the whirlwind excitement you have felt throughout all of your planning so far may start to dissipate. The important thing to remember is, this is still the most important day of your life, and a tighter than expected budget (or higher than expected expenditures) shouldn’t cast a cloud over all of your plans.

There are several ways to try to make the most of your resources when considering the financial aspects of your wedding. The first thing you may want to do is downsize. Look at your guest list and cross out some of the people you may be inviting as just a formality. Next, try to make a fair estimate of how many of your invitees will actually show up. Upon inspection, you may realize that some of them are out of town, tending to an ill family member, etc. and probably won’t show up. You may even want to ask that parents not bring small children. This can cut both costs and chaos for your big day. Even a small reduction of your guest list can make a significant difference to costs, when all things are considered.

Despite the fact that you found the most sumptuous caterers in town, you may be able to find a more economic choice that makes just as much of an impression on your guests. Or, you may want to choose a different dish with the same caterer. Lemon-dill chicken breasts may not have the same haute appeal as lobster-topped filet, but the dish can be dressed to look just as well-selected and definitely as tasty as the latter choice. Leave this up to the caterers-it’s their job. And definitely rethink your choice of alcohol. If you are thinking of featuring an open bar, you may want to provide bottles of wine and beer only. This will not only eliminate a huge expense, but also help pacify some of your guests that are sure to be coming largely to get drunk (we all have a few of them)!

You can even save money in all of the little details of the ceremony, details that most people will fail to even notice. Different types of table cloths or floral arrangements for your guest tables, and the types of stationary and wedding cards you choose can definitely save you money, without making much of an impact on your wedding plans. Most importantly, don’t allow the stress of finances to ruin the most important time of your life. Enjoy every moment of it, and make it a day to remember forever.

Most people are aware that a higher credit score will result in a greater number of opportunities for them. Some of these include being eligible for lower interest rates on all kinds of loans, being able to get that mortage for your home and lower insurance premiums to pay. These same people also understand that there are three compnaies that are responsible for the compilation of credit rating reports. Is it possible to improve your credit score without any contact with these three credit bureaus? Most definitely, as this article will explain.

Your credit rating can be improved simply by lowering your credit to debt ratio and increasing your credit limit. Each time an account is opened with a lender or credit card company a credit limit is set. If your credit score is low, your chances of obtaining an unsecured or standard credit card are minimal. We will look at three options that are available for people in this situation.

1. Sub-prime Credit Cards. This credit card will only offer a small line of credit, sometimes as little as $300 and they often charge extremely high fees. Added to this, you may have to pay an application fee, an account set up fee, a “participation” fee which is charged monthly and finally an annual fee. After all this fee paying, you won’t have much credit to spend. It is a wise move to avoid this type of card as in addition to the exhorbitant fees, they can actually cause damage to your credit rating.

2. Secured Credit Cards. Sometimes, families with low credit scores are able to get this form of card. Generally a cash deposit has to be paid. It works this way: You place $500 into the secured account and then use this credit charging up goods and services to the value of $500. Some people may well ask, why not just spend the cash? The reason behind using this card in this way is that it will help in increasing your credit limit. It is a good idea, though, to check before you obtain one - some of these cards have higher fees than others.

3. Sub-prime Merchandise Cards. The better way of increasing your line of credit without risking financial disaster is to obtain a sub-prime merchandise card. This type of card allows you to make purchases from a particular store, which is generally owned by the company from whom you obtained the card and sometimes an online retailer. For whatever you purchase, you must put down a deposit with the balance being financed by the card. This has the advantage that your new credit line is reported to the major credit bureaus. Let’s look at an example. You obtain a $5,000 card and use it to finance a $500 purchase. The credit bureaus recognize an increase in your credit limit of $5,000 and the outstanding balance, being small, assists in reducing your debt ratio to credit ratio.

The sub-prime merchandise card has its limitations in that is not like a VISA or MasterCard. It won’t be accepted everywhere you go, for example the food store or gas station. You should also make sure that before you choose a card, the provider does report its use to the credit bureaus in order for it to work for you.

by Matt Douglas

Here are the five pieces on your credit report the bureaus use to calculate your credit score. In addition you will find the approximate value each piece carries in the credit scoring model.

1. Payment History (45%)

This is the area in which negative listings on your credit report are counted. It will help your score if you can remove all the negative listings.

If you are unsuccessful removing negative items you still can have a good credit score. It is rumored that after 4 years a negative item has much less impact on your score. Also you should build a positive payment history to reduce the impact a negative item will have.

2. Available Credit to Debt (30%)

This is how much credit do you have that is available. Are all your credit cards maxed out?

The bureaus like to see available credit. This shows them that you are a responsible user of credit.

3. Length of Credit (5%)

How long have you been using credit? If you are a newbie to the world of credit you can still have a good score.

You should not worry about this aspect when it comes to improving your score. Your accounts will age naturally and this will not make or break your score.

4. Credit Experience (5%)

What are you accounts on credit in? Do you only have credit cards?

It is said that having diverse credit accounts will help your score. However this is such a small factor that you should not pay extra attention to this.

You will naturally have diverse accounts with time. Your will open accounts such as; mortgage, credit card, car loan, boat loan and etcetera.

5. Pursuit of New Credit (15%)

How often are you applying for new credit? Are you constantly seeking new lines of credit?

If it looks like your credit is being checked continuously it will lower your credit score. The bureaus expect to see credit inquiries but excessive inquires will damage your score.

However there are individuals that literally open new lines of credit every month. These people will have their score lowered because there credit is constantly being checked.

These weight values are just estimates and not exact. Each bureau varies their scoring model and they choose to keep this information secret from the public. However by building positive payment history and removing negative accounts from your credit report you can increase your credit score dramatically.

by Clare Colemann

They are really for people who need a little bit of extra money for making ends meet until they get paid again and are not created to cover larger expenses. When applying for a loan in person, you will in some cases have to leave a personal cheque on file with the pay day lender that is post-dated to the date that the loan becomes due, and made out for the amount of the loan plus the lender’s service charges, in exchange for the loan.

If you are in chexsystems you are in a tough spot. This will prohibit you from opening a new checking account and damage your credit score.

There is an alternative; you can get a prepaid credit card. Most offer direct deposit for free.

This can save you money by no longer paying expensive check cashing fees. In addition you can pay your bills with this card.

There is a free service that enables you to write checks from your account. You can pay your bills or an individual. This feature is called bill pay and will save you money by not having to buy money orders.

As you can see this card works just like a checking account. Your card is accepted world wide and can be used over the phone or online.

Additionally with the prepaid account now visa you can enroll in another free service called credit builder. This service will record the payments you make using bill pay and report that information to a credit reporting agency. This can be used to show future credit worthiness.

What is ChexSystems?

It is a group of financial institutions that share information. They do this to screen out potential problem customers. You can be placed in it for having an account closed for reason.

Reasons are:

- Fraud

- Repeated overdrafts without the bank being able to collect payment

- Using false information to open an account

When this happens to you will be unable to open a new checking account. Your credit score will be significantly lowered.

This mark will remain on your credit report for 5 years. You should be aware that you may be able to open a new checking account, but once the bank runs your information and discovers you are in chexsystems they will close your account.

Figuring out how to improve your credit rating might require an measure of drive on your part. A credit rating is an indicator of your financial solvency and it is important if you need to borrow money from lenders. A low credit score would always result in your credit application getting rejected.

Your evaluation tells loaners of how dependable you are as a borrower. This usually furnishes the lending institutions an insight into your financial standing. That is because the rating is a mathematical measure of a person’s borrowing habits and behavior based on some important credit factors. A formula developed by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO) is usually used to calculate the score which is why your credit rating is also usually referred to as the FICO score.

When the credit evaluation low, your potential lender starts to presume that you may not be a dependable borrower. This may be based on your past credit accounts from which you may have defaulted on, late payments of debts, bankruptcy or foreclosure issues that you may have in the past and other similar factors. A high ranking instantly puts you in a positive light to the lender and your credit application might be approved.

There are many ways that you may be able to amend your credit score and this will include having a closer look at your current credit rating. See if you have overdue bills to pay, and pay them off instantly, as this can affect your credit ranking in a negative way. Remember that to improve credit history, you need to always pay your outstanding on time.

In case you find that you have missed on some past payments, make the situation current as soon as you can by clearing past dues. Staying current with your outstanding credit accounts may also have an effect on your credit score. What’s more, your credit record, along with the missed or delinquent payments, may reflect on your credit report and will stay there for a period of seven years. It will be looked upon as a smudge on your report even after you have paid off any debts.

If you find that you are unable to handle the outstanding situation anymore, it makes sense to contact either the creditors or take professional advice from a credit counselor. This cannot dramatically amend your credit score, but the sooner you start clearing your past dues, it starts getting reflected on your improved credit rating.

Learning how to improve your credit would increase your chances to acquire that loan or mortgage, when you desperately need it. It is nothing but distressing to find that an application for a loan or credit gets rejected just because the credit rating is low. Improving your credit score can also assure you that you have better credit options especially during times that you might need it most.

Living in today’s world, it’s almost impossible to function without using and managing debt. The unrelenting needs and never-ending changes in our financial lives require that we utilize credit in one way or another. When properly maintained and used, credit is a good thing for most people’s financial lives, allowing them to purchase homes, vehicles, and other items they would likely not otherwise be able to get without years of savings.

Often, though, debt piles up rather than being paid and people begin to slowly feel their freedom being drained as the debt begins to take over their financial lives. Becoming always short of money, barely able to make payments on time, or being late because you just didn’t have the money yet. Sacrificing lifestyle choices and worse, all begin to get worse as the debt mounts. Eventually this comes to a head and has to be dealt with.

Before it gets to that point, though, many people turn to debt consolidation to relieve the pressure and take off the stress. A debt consolidation and management program can reduce your debt, provide you with a means to get out of debt, and manage your credit to show you how to utilize it in a healthy manner that doesn’t build your debt load, but instead lowers it.

So how does this work and is it really what it says it is?

Debt consolidation works by consolidating all of your debt into one loan at a lower interest rate, usually paying off your existing debt at lower rates than what’s owed. This means your new loan is for a lower amount that you owed before and at a lower (usually fixed) interest rate. So now instead of many monthly payments at varying interest rates, you have one payment at one interest rate.

Some of these programs will, instead of setting up a new loan, set up a management program in which current debts are “fixed” with the creditors, lower payments and interest rates are set up, and your single payment to the management program pays all your creditors automatically. These are not “loans” but they are consolidations of credit under one management system.

Most creditors are happy to either cut what’s owed in order to get paid off so they do not have to worry about a struggling client or to take lower interest payments in return for getting a more guaranteed monthly payment to service the debt. A creditor’s biggest worry is that a debtor will declare bankruptcy and the creditor will walk away with nothing at all but an unpaid debt.

Some management companies will offer incentives to the client looking to consolidate their debt, making claims about how quickly the debts will be paid and how a “new start” will be had once it’s done. In reality, it takes time to pay off these debts and, in the mean time, the person’s credit is often on hold and unusable.

Further, some consolidation management companies take monthly payments, issue “cease and desist” orders as attorneys to creditors, demanding that they talk only to the management company about the client’s debt, and then let the monthly payments pile up without being sent to creditors. They do this in order to pressure the creditors into taking even lower payoffs (in lump sums from this “account”) and to collect interest on the money being paid to them as it builds in an account. While this is legal, it is deceptive and often ruins the client’s credit for a very long time.

So finding a reputable and reliable debt consolidation and management firm is a must if you’re in the market to consolidate your loans and want to manage your debts correctly. Consolidation is often the best and most effective way to reduce debt or to completely eliminate it and get clear of it as quickly as possible without totally destroying your credit.

To ensure that you have a better future, you should build your credit. In these times, it is necessary to have a good credit score to obtain a loan for a car or a home or to get a credit card. If you have a poor credit rating you will need to repair it before you will be able to obtain credit.

When you are looking at repairing your credit, intially you should study each bill; that includes overdue ones. Ensure that all current bills are paid and if possible, the entire balance as this will help you avoid more bad reporting. When these current bills are paid, you should then turn your attention to the late ones. Pay off the ones that cannot wait first; with others such as utilities you may be able to delay payment a little longer.

You are more at risk with secured bills, including those on your home or car, so these should be dealt with as a priority. Most utility companies are prepared to wait if you let them know and it may even be possible for you to obtain assistance with paying these bills.

Some organizations such as Social Services and religious groups will give financial support to families on low incomes. For bank loans, you may be able to contact the lender and inquire about options they have for lowering the mortgage or car payments. If a financial institution offers a refinancing deal as a solution, be careful as some of these offers have higher interest rates and even hidden charges associated with them. Check the fine print to make sure. It is vital that you obtain the best deal if you are serious about repairing your credit. It is also a good idea to consider making cutbacks in your spending.

It is necessary to reduce our unnecessary spending as much as possible when we are in the business of repairing our credit. We often have to make do with less to build a better future; when we have to rebuild our credit, we are getting our life back in control. You may have to rethink every aspect of your spending to achieve this. Check your solutions - if they involve extra charges, they probably will get you deeper into debt rather than out of it.

The last resort in credit repair is the companies that offer credit repair, such as debt counselors, debt consolidators and bankruptcy. If you are considering bankruptcy as an option, remember that it will cost you at least a few hundred dollars. Lawyers cost money and on top of this you will have the stress of court proceedings to endure.

If you can possibly find a solution to your debt on your own, do so as this will be of benefit to you. If you find yourself desperately out of your depth, with nothing to lose, then ignore your debts. Does this sound ridiculous? Perhaps, but in desperate situations it may be the only way out. If your debt burden and credit score is not so bad, it may be possible to ask friends or family for a short term loan with low apr. You will probably have to pay interest, but in most cases you will be charged less and they may be more accommodating. It is a better solution than obtaining a loan from a bank.

Most lenders in banks are more that willing to help people who are experiencing difficulties, but they will hit you with higher interest rates. Whilst the monthly payments may be lower, the end price is often very high.

So, as you can see, it makes good sense to check out all of your options before you choose the one that suits you the best. Remember, by repairing your credit, you are improving your future prospects.

Are you drowning in debt and finding it difficult to make your monthly payments? Even if you’ve had no problem controlling your debt in the past, there may be something unexpected that has come up. You may have recently become unemployed or there may be an illness in your family. These types of problems affect everyone and if you have little or no savings then you can easily find yourself in financial trouble. This is when debt negotiation with your credit card companies is a viable option that will benefit both you and the credit card company.

Debt negotiation benefits you since you’ll be able to get your credit card bills under control. It benefits the credit card company by ensuring they receive payment (or partial payment) and preventing your account from going to a collection agency. Since credit card companies won’t be getting all the money that you’ve agreed to repay, they will not accept all requests.

You can try debt negotiation on your own without the assistance of an outside service. Simply contact your credit card companies and ask for a lowered interest rate, lower payments and/or a suspension of penalty fees. If you’re willing to close out the account on the spot, the credit card company may be willing to accept less than the balance. You’ll need to give the agent a good reason why; be honest about the reason and what you can afford.

Each credit card company has different policies. The agent that you initially speak to may be able to help you but more than likely you’ll need to talk to a supervisor. The initial agent may only be able to waive a fee or suspend a payment so it’s beneficial to talk to a supervisor or manager in any case. If an agent isn’t able to help you then ask for a superior.

Depending on your credit history and reason for negotiation, credit card companies may be able to work with you. Even if they’re not able to help you, ask the agent to document your account so future agents can reference your request. Since each credit card company has different policies, you may not succeed with all of your requests. One company may be willing to work with you while another may not.

If you’re not able to succeed in getting your bills under control then you can get the help of a debt counseling service. There are many to choose from but it’s best to find one that has an office in your area so you can meet face-to-face with a counselor. Look for one that is non-profit or not-for-profit and funded by the government. They will usually offer you a free consultation and their fees are nominal. Try to negotiate your debt on your own but some credit card companies are more willing to work with counseling services.
